Kabza De Small has never shied away from the weight that comes with being a global ambassador for amapiano. Back in 2020, he made a bold statement with his third solo album, I Am the King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust, and over the past five years, he’s only sharpened his crown. From celebrating kwaito with Speak N Vrostaan (2022) alongside Kwesta, to the soul-stirring collaboration with Mthunzi on 2023’s Isimo, Kabza has consistently pushed the boundaries of South African music.

Now, he’s back with Bab’Motha, an album that rides the wave of amapiano’s evolution while keeping its spiritual roots alive.

The journey kicks off with “Kabza Chant 2.0”, a dreamy opener featuring Nobuhle, Nkosazana Daughter, and Sykes, before sliding into the funky, bass-driven energy of “Abalozi”. Kabza doesn’t just stick to familiar sounds—he dives into the 3-step fusion of Afro-house and amapiano that’s dominating South African dance floors. On “Ngyozama”Dlala Thukzin brings the heat for a full-blown party anthem, while “Siyabonga” proves Kabza’s genius as a curator, pairing Mthunzi and Nontokozo Mkhize for a track that’s as immersive as it is unforgettable.

Across the album, Kabza’s signature basslines, wavy synths, and multilayered instrumentation form a cohesive vision, cementing his role as a guiding force in amapiano and South African dance music. Bab’Motha isn’t just an album—it’s a statement: Kabza De Small remains at the cutting edge, shaping the sound of a generation.
