This milestone marks a bold new chapter for the brand as it expands its product offering and strengthens its position as a leading force in South African streetwear and contemporary design.
Years in the making, GALXBOY set out to create a sneaker range that authentically represents the brand’s DNA — merging cultural identity with modern design language. What followed was a collaborative process involving the wider GALXBOY creative team, each contributing to shaping the vision into a tangible product. Building on that momentum, the brand partnered with UK-based footwear designer Andrew Turner, bringing international design expertise into the mix.
Rooted in a shared vision, the design journey aimed to create a sneaker that speaks both locally and globally — born from South African heritage, youth culture, and forward-thinking creativity.
“This project felt like a divinely aligned partnership from the very beginning,” said Thatiso Dube, founder of GALXBOY. “Our vision was to create something truly exceptional — a sneaker that embodies culture, craftsmanship and innovation at the highest level. Andrew brought invaluable global perspective to the collaboration, and together we’re proud to introduce our first two sneaker offerings to the world.”
GBX 012 Trainer: Clean Form, Bold Identity
The GBX 012 Trainer (Cupsole) captures GALXBOY’s signature blend of bold aesthetics and refined craftsmanship. Designed with a seamless quarter panel construction, the silhouette delivers a clean and elevated look that required technical precision to execute.
The result is a premium trainer that balances statement design with everyday wearability — reflecting the evolution of the brand’s design language.
GBX 012 Runner: Performance Energy Meets Streetwear
The GBX 012 Runner introduces a more dynamic, performance-inspired edge to the collection. Early render concepts featured a sleeker midsole, but real-world wear testing prompted refinements to prevent bulkiness while maintaining comfort and durability.
Special attention was placed on the heel structure, where outsole adjustments improved ground contact and long-term wear resistance — blending technical function with street-ready aesthetics.
“Having worked with major global brands throughout my career, being part of this collaboration was incredibly exciting,” said Turner. “The original sketches were already about 90% aligned with the vision. The final 10% came from refining construction details and solving technical challenges. The finished designs are truly iconic — definitely one for the books.”

The GBX 012 Trainer and Runner represent the next evolution of GALXBOY — bold, technically refined footwear carrying the spirit of modern South Africa youth into a new category for the brand.
