OMODA has officially launched the all-new C7 SUV in South Africa, delivering a bold combination of design, technology, and versatile powertrains that sets a new benchmark in the mid-size SUV segment. Positioned between the affordable C5 X Series and the range-topping C9, the C7 is crafted for drivers who want style, practicality, and cutting-edge tech, all without compromising value.

From the moment you see it, the C7 demands attention. Its striking X-shaped frameless grille, slim LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, and sporty red-painted brake calipers give it an unmistakable presence. Sculpted body lines flow seamlessly from front to back, while standard 19-inch wheels—upgraded to 20-inch alloys on the SHS plug-in hybrid—enhance its confident, athletic stance. Every detail, from city streets to the open highway, has been designed to make an impression.

Under the bonnet, buyers can choose between a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 145 kW and 290 N.m of torque, or the SHS plug-in hybrid, which pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor for a combined 255 kW and 525 N.m. The petrol variant comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering responsive acceleration and fuel efficiency of 7.5 L/100 km, while the SHS offers an all-electric range of 105 km and a total range of roughly 1,200 km. Its 18.4 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery charges from 30-80% in just 20 minutes via a 40 kW fast charger, or fully in 160 minutes on a 6.6 kW charger, with overall fuel consumption dropping to 5.0 L/100 km and CO₂ emissions at just 30 g/km. Both powertrains feature Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes, giving drivers full control over performance and efficiency.

Inside, the C7 blends comfort, technology, and practicality. A 2,720 mm wheelbase provides generous legroom for all passengers, while the boot offers 614 litres in the petrol model and 537 litres in the SHS variant with the second row in place. Towing capacity stands at 1,250 kg, making weekend getaways or lifestyle adventures effortless. The cabin is sleek and minimalist, with black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, driver seat memory, and dual-zone climate control.

Technology is front and centre. The driver benefits from an 8.88-inch digital display cluster, while a 15.6-inch infotainment screen integrates media, climate controls, and vehicle settings. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity ensure seamless smartphone integration, while a premium Sony sound system delivers rich audio—eight speakers in the petrol variant and a 12-speaker setup in the SHS. Wireless charging and multi-colour ambient lighting allow every journey to be as personalised as it is immersive.

Safety is a top priority in the C7, with ABS, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Programme, and a suite of airbags including dual front, front-side, curtain, driver’s knee, and front centre. On top of these, the C7 offers up to 21 advanced driver-assistance systems, including a 540-degree panoramic camera, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, traffic jam assist, emergency lane keeping, and more—delivering peace of mind in every scenario.

“OMODA’s all-new C7 represents the next step in our commitment to bringing SUVs to South African drivers that combine style, technology, and practicality,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “Whether choosing the petrol or SHS plug-in hybrid variant, drivers can enjoy an SUV that is efficient, comfortable, and equipped with the latest safety and connectivity features.”

The C7 is priced at R539,900 for the 1.6 TGDI Luxury, R589,900 for the 1.6 TGDI Elegance, and R689,900 for the SHS variant. It will be available in showrooms from 11 November 2025 and comes backed by industry-leading warranties, including a one-million km/10-year engine warranty for the first owner, five-year service plans, factory warranties of up to seven years, a 10-year/unlimited km battery warranty on the SHS, and five years of roadside assistance—ensuring both peace of mind and outstanding ownership value.

With its bold design, advanced technology, versatile powertrains, and comprehensive safety features, the OMODA C7 isn’t just another SUV—it’s a statement on the road, offering South African drivers a package that delivers style, practicality, and confidence in every journey.
