South African hip-hop rising star Usimamane steps into his next era with the official release of his new EP, Baby Tai— a focused, fearless project powered by ambition, hunger, and forward motion. Released via Gamma.Africa, the six-track EP lands alongside its hard-hitting lead single “Racks,” a bold money anthem made for go-getters and self-starters.
“‘Racks’ is about money, drive, and mindset,” says Usimamane. “That’s why I’m dropping it early in the year — it’s motivation for everyone who’s tryna get paid.”
The track draws inspiration from a pivotal meeting with global hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross in January last year, where the conversation was all about discipline, focus, and relentless pursuit of success. “All we spoke about was getting to the money by all means necessary,” he adds.
Baby Tai carries deep personal meaning for the Umlazi-born artist, dropping at 12:01 AM on his birthday — a symbolic moment marking growth, clarity, and the start of a new chapter. Blending rap, trap, and melodic R&B, the EP delivers raw emotion, confidence, and introspection, reflecting Usimamane’s evolution from the streets of Umlazi to national recognition — all while staying rooted in authenticity.
