Omega Circle has done it again. “Spirit Lift Me,” the new single preceding their 3 July EP, is the kind of gospel track that stays with you long after it ends. This is not background music. This is an encounter.
Coming off the remarkable streaming success of “Sedilaka” — arguably the breakthrough moment for this South African gospel project — “Spirit Lift Me” had big shoes to fill. It does not merely fill them. It exceeds every expectation.
The songwriting structure alone is worth studying. The track opens with a spoken declaration of blessing: “I speak blessings upon your life / Let the Spirit lift you / Nothing is beyond God.” This is not a passive statement. It is an active, intentional prophetic utterance — and it immediately draws the listener into a posture of receiving.
From there, the song builds its central refrain around the phrase “Spirit, lift me,” which repeats across the chorus in multiple layers: “Spirit, lift me (I say) / Spirit, lift me (Spirit) / Spirit, lift me / God, lift me.” The parenthetical responses create a dialogue within the song itself, as if the congregation is answering the lead voice. It is a brilliantly constructed congregational worship device.
The bridge section introduces one of the strongest moments in the track: “Father, Father / Let Your will / Let Your glory / Shine and shine / Father, Father / Cover us / Protect us / Even when we’re in doubt / Let us always remember.” This is songwriting that understands the full arc of faith — triumph and doubt coexisting in honest worship.
The closing section brings it home with escalating repetition: “Lift me / Spirit, Spirit / Lift me, oh Lord / Lift me, Father / Lift me, Jesus.” By the end, the song has become a full act of surrender.
“Spirit Lift Me” is available now. The EP drops 3 July. Do not miss either.
